Michelangelo

The glazed ceramic floppy disks are labeled with the names of well-known disk viruses of the 1990s and early 2000s. They are named after the virus program “Michelangelo”, a virus whose destructive effect only occurred when an infected computer was restarted on Michelangelo’s birthday, 6 March.
While computer viruses today are transmitted decentrally via the Internet, back then physical contact with the infected device was necessary. In addition to the damage, the functioning of early computer viruses shows a humorous approach to programming and leaving traces behind.
