Cursor
The cursor, controlled by a computer mouse or touchpad, is an extension of our hand in the digital realm. Characterized by its tilted angle, it acts as a messenger—true to its Latin origin “cursor”, meaning runner or messenger. Websites track our movements to determine whether we are bots, and spyware can monitor mouse activity without our knowledge. In this way, our extended arm becomes a surveillance tool. For this reason, the cursors are placed in locations where surveillance cameras are typically installed.
