Screen shots series

The mosaics are based on screenshots of applications and icons / pictograms from the Windows 95 operating system. The industrially produced glass mosaic tiles (1×1 cm) are square like pixels on the screen and are applied tile by tile to the pre-primed MDF board. The different image elements are then grouted in matching colors.
Mosaic as a design element creates a link to ancient mosaic art by transforming digital screenshots and impressions from the digital world into a tangible form. At the same time, it ties in with photography, as the motifs are based on screenshots and deliberately only show sections rather than the entire screen.
